Halogen-Free Cable
What are Halogens?
Halogens are the elements in Group ⅦA of the periodic table, including Fluorine (F), Chlorine (Cl), Bromine (Br), Iodine (I), Astatine (At), and Tennessine (Ts). They are present in many compounds and are commonly used as additives to improve flame resistance. For example, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a widely used insulating and sheathing material in cables due to its durability. However, halogens are problematic because, in addition to being harmful to health, they are difficult to decompose and have negative environmental impacts.
Halogen-Free Cables:
As the name suggests, halogen-free cables are made from plastic materials that do not contain halogens. These materials can typically be identified by the chemical elements in their names, such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), fluoropolymer rubber, and others. With the increasing global awareness of environmental protection, halogen-free materials are considered environmentally friendly and have begun to be widely applied in various products.
Copartner can provide custom-made cables with insulation and sheathing materials such as PE, PP, TPEE, PUR, TPE, TPU, LSZH, and PEEK, all of which are halogen-free.
